6 Ideas for Pastors Seeking a Call

If you want to work in transitional ministry settings over a long period of time, you’ll need to become known as pastor who enjoys this work. Things I have found helpful include:

  1. Maintain an active online resume on LinkedIn or other social sites. Include recommendations from each of your references and list relevant ministry experience, strengths, and interests.

  2. Volunteer for pulpit supply in churches in transition.

  3. Get to know mid council leaders as they play a role in helping churches find pastoral candidates.

  4. Develop a blog or other digital resource.

  5. Practice your ‘elevator speech’.  You never know when an opportunity might arise to share with someone  who can open a door for you.

  6. Network. Network. Network. In fact, never stop networking. A growing network of contacts will serve you well,

What would you add to this list?
